Allen, TX (May 23, 2022) - The Dallas Sidekicks announced today that they are extending Head Coach Ricardinho Cavalcante’s contract through 2025.

Ricardinho started with the Sidekicks as a player in 2003 where he played 30 games and had 12 goals and 18 assists. He rejoined the Sidekicks in 2012 after the revival. He then spent numerous seasons being a player-coach.

In the 2021-2022 season, Ricardinho started as an assistant coach and the Sidekicks had a rough start losing their first 3 games. He became interim head coach on December 30th and led the team to its first victory for the season. Ricardinho officially became head coach on February 10, 2022.

In the 2021-2022 season, Ricardinho received MASL Coach of the Year and led the team to the MASL playoffs for the first time since the 2014-2015 season. He also helped lead players like Luiz Morales to become the MASL Rookie of the Year and Juan Gamboa as a nominee for the MASL Goalkeeper of the Year.

With an 11-9-1 record under Head Coach Ricardinho, the Sidekicks will use this past season’s momentum to build off for the coming seasons.

“The whole reason that our team is clicking together is due to the hard work of the players and the players grasping the system I have set in place,” said Ricardinho.

Ricardinho’s signing is one of the Sidekicks’ first moves for the upcoming 2022-2023 season.

“We hope to sign more impact players to help the team push further into the playoffs”, said Coach Ricardinho.
