Dallas Sidekicks Lose to Monterrey Flash on Sunday

Monterrey, Mexico (April 2, 2023)- The Dallas Sidekicks had their final game of the 2022-23 MASL regular season against the Monterrey Flash at midday Sunday. This was the second time this season these two teams faced each other.

Monterrey scored first in the first quarter with a goal scored by Alvaro Bocanegra. During the quarter, the Sidekicks kept together defensively and with the help of goalkeeper, Estevan Vazquez, only allowed one goal out of the six Monterrey shots. The Sidekicks had two shots, but they did not make the back of the net. At the end of the quarter, the score was 0-1.

Unlike the Sidekicks' defensive effort in the first quarter, the Sidekicks allowed six unanswered goals in the second quarter. These goals were scored by Luis Ángel Mendoza, Gustavo Rosales, Alexis Espinosa with two goals, Walter Ayoví, and Mariano Amaro. Going into halftime the score was 0-7.

The Sidekicks got on the scoring sheet in the third quarter with the goal scored by Christian Vazquez at the 9:06 minute mark. This marked Vazquez’s first MASL career goal. Two minutes later, Luis Ángel Mendoza with Monterrey scored his second goal of the game. At the end of the quarter, the score was 1-8.

One minute into the fourth quarter, Monterrey scored again with a goal by Gerardo Adailton Chavez. Five minutes later, Sidekicks’ player Anthony Powell scored. At the 11-minute mark of the fourth quarter, Monterrey scored the last goal of the game which was by Jorge Luis Cortés. The final score of the game was 2-10.
