Dallas Sidekicks Midfielder Jamie Lovegrove Named to the MASL Team of the Week

Allen, TX (Nov 1, 2016) – The Major Arena Soccer League announced today its Team of the Week for week one of the 2016/17 season. Sidekicks midfielder Jamie Lovegrove was named to the Team of the Week for the first time this season.

Sidekicks forward Cameron Brown was an honorable mention for his hat-trick performance against the El Paso Coyotes.

The 2016-2017 Major Arena Soccer League season opened up this past weekend with ten teams hitting the floor. Throughout the games, there were several players who stood out among the rest and were selected to the first MASL Team of the Week for the season.  

The MASL Team of the Week 

Goalkeeper: Chris Toth (San Diego Sockers) – Only allowed one goal against the Turlock Express and added an assist in the Sockers’ 12-1 victory.

Defenders: Victor Quiroz (San Diego Sockers) – Had three assists and was an integral part of the league’s best statistical defense from the opening weekend.
 Jonatan Santos (Cedar Rapids Rampage) – Notched an assist and aided in his team’s first ever defeat of the Kansas City Comets

Midfielders:  Jamie Lovegrove (Dallas Sidekicks) – Had two goals and was a constant threat for the Sidekicks in their win over the El Paso Coyotes.
 Gordy Gurson (Cedar Rapids Rampage) – Scored the eventual game winning goal against the Kansas City Comets.

Forward: Kraig Chiles: Scored a first half hat trick to go along with his two assists as he led the Sockers to a big opening night win.

Honorable Mention: Tino Nunez (Ontario Fury), Cameron Brown (Dallas Sidekicks), Mauricio Salles (Ontario Fury), Tiguinho Dias (Ontario Fury), Danny Waltman (Tacoma Stars), Brett Petricek (Cedar Rapids Rampage), Max Toulete (San Diego Sockers)

The MASL was formed in 2014 by teams from the Professional Arena Soccer League and Major Indoor Soccer League. The league represents the highest level of professional arena soccer in the world, and features teams across North America, with teams playing coast-to-coast in the United States and Mexico.
