Freddy Moojen Named To Canadian National Futsal Team

(CANADA: April 23, 2021) – Dallas Sidekicks forward Freddy Moojen has been named to the Canadian National Futsal Team. The veteran fan favorite in Dallas has become a mainstay on his adopted home countries National Futsal Team but it is always and honor to get the call up.

Moojen is one of 14 players selected to the team by head coach Kyt Selaidopoulos along with two alternates. Canada will compete in the 2021 Concacaf Futsal Championship taking place from 3-9 May 2021 in Guatemala City. Moojen's team was placed in Group B with reigning Concacaf Champions Costa Rica and Haiti with the hopes of advancing to the FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021.

Originally from Balneário Camboriú, Brazil, Moojen's family lives Canada and he has been living in Dallas during the MASL season.  This past year, Moojen had nine points in nine game with six goals and three assists in the regular season. He ended on a high note with a hat-trick to go with an assist at the Allen Event Center in the playoff game against the Ontario Fury. In the previous season, Moojen lead the Dallas Sidekicks with 19 goals in 21 games.

"I am proud to have this opportunity to wear the red and white and represent my country," said Dallas Sidekicks Forward Freddy Moojen who became a Canadian citizen in 2013. Moojen was called by the Canadian National Futsal team to play in the 2016 CONCACAF Futsal Championship in Costa Rica. Moojen scored 5 goals in 3 games and was named the Top scorer of the tournament (Golden Boot).
