GAME NOTES: 2.12.21 Florida Tropics
(ALLEN, TEXAS: February 12, 2021) The Dallas Sidekicks will play their sixth game of the 2020-2021 MASL season on Friday, February 12th against the Florida Tropics at 7:30 PM at the Allen Event Center. The Dallas Sidekicks "We ♡ Allen Night" is presented by Genghis Grill.
This will be the eighth game of the season for the Tropics who are coming off a surprising 8-4 loss to the St. Louis Ambush. It was the first loss of the season for Florida (6-1) who had already beaten the Ambush three times this season including an 8-3 win just two days prior. The Tropics are looking to get back on track against the Sidekicks after rolling through their first six games when they had outscored their opponents 42-20 prior to their setback in Missouri.
Florida has four of the top six point leaders in the league with Ian Bennett (15), Victor Parreiras (13), Ricardo Carvalho (9) and Guilherme Dos Santos (8). Ian Bennett, who moved over from the Milwaukee Wave, leads the league with ten goals so far in 2021 while Parreiras leads the MASL in assists with eight. Defender Drew Ruggles is tied at the top of the league with two game winning goals along with Bennett. Goalie Hugo Silva tops the league in wins.
Dallas is lead by Felipe De Sousa who is tied for second in the league with seven goals and is in the top ten in both points and points-per-game. De Sousa is coming off his game winning goal in overtime against the Tacoma Stars this past Saturday. For the second-year forward from Brazil, it was his second hat trick of the season in just three games. De Sousa is just one goal off his tally from his rookie season of eight goals from his 22 games played and has scored in each game he has played this year.
The First Kick will be Michel who played locally for both the Dallas Sidekicks and FC Dallas. The Brazilian midfielder was always a major threat taking free kicks for club and country having played for the Brazilian U23 team and professional clubs throughout the Americas and Europe.
