Game Preview: Dallas Sidekicks Square Off With Ontario Fury Friday Night

Allen, TX (Jan. 24, 2017) – The Dallas Sidekicks travel out west and face Ontario Fury for the first of two meetings during the 2016-17 season. The Sidekicks enter the match with a 6-8 record, while the Ontario Fury are 5-7. The Sidekicks enter the matchup on a two game winning streak.

The Sidekicks offense is averaging 7.5 goals per game and scoring 37% of their power play goals.  The team is also killing 73% of their penalties. Forward Cameron Brown leads the team in goals with 26. Brown also leads the team in points with 38.

Cameron Brown has scored in 25 consecutive Major Arena Soccer League matches and will be hoping to extend his record against Turlock on Saturday night. Cameron Brown achieved his feat for the Dallas Sidekicks across two seasons in 2015-16. Brown missed game 12 of last season at Brownsville, but he scored at least one goal in games 9, 10, 11, and 13-20 of last season as well as all 14 games of this year.

Ontario is averaging 6.5 goals per game and scoring 38% of their power play goal. Nick Perera leads the Fury with 11 goals. Joey Kapinos will be the starting goalie for the Fury, Perera has a save percentage of .653 and a GAA of 6.41.Ontario enter Friday’s match on a three game losing streak.  Due to decreasing weather conditions Ontario had to suspend their match against Atletico Baja Sunday night.

With six games remaining the Sidekicks still have a fighting chance of finishing second in the Soutwest division and earning a spot in the playoffs as they are just 1 full game behind Baja.
