MASL ANNOUNCED THE TEAM OF THE WEEK FOR WEEK FIVE

Allen, Texas (Nov 29, 2016) – Today, the Major Arena Soccer League announced their MASL Team of the Week for week five. Congratulations to the five players below for being named to the Week Five Team of the Week. The MASL Team of the Week is selected using the stars awarded at each game and by soliciting nominations from each team. Players nominated by teams were each awarded three points and stars were awarded 3 points (1st Star), 2 points (2nd star) and 1 Point (3rd star) respectively.

Goalkeeper: 
Diego Reynoso 
(Soles de Sonora) – Reynoso faced 27 shots and allowed a league-best three goals for a .889 save percentage. His 24 saves were also best in the MASL.

Defender: 
Chris Mattingly 
(St. Louis Ambush) – Contributed two assists to help the offense and made six blocks on defense on Sunday, November 27 against Chicago. The Ambush defender also now leads the league in blocks.

Midfielders:
Gordy Gurson 
(Cedar Rapids Rampage) – Gurson was involved in four of the seven Rampage goals against Milwaukee with one score and three assists. The three assists came on consecutive goals in the third quarter as Cedar Rapids took and grew the lead.
Juan Carlos Gonzalez (Ontario Fury) – He opened and closed the scoring Friday night in the Fury’s win and added one more in the middle for the hat trick.

Forwards:
Max Touloute 
(San Diego Sockers) – Touloute scored four goals in the first half, then scored a short-handed goal in the second half. The ‘Haitian Sensation’ only needed six shots to score his five goals. He also added one assist in the game.
Matt Clare (San Diego Sockers) – Clare scored two goals for the Sockers and added four assists in their big win over the Coyotes.

Honorable Mention: Brett Petricek (Cedar Rapids Rampage), Boris Pardo (San Diego Sockers), Damian Garcia (Soles de Sonora), Edwin Rojas (Chicago Mustangs), Thiago Freitas (Harrisburg Heat), Miguel Vaca (Chicago Mustangs), Andy Reyes (Ontario Fury), Taylor Bond (Chicago Mustangs), Franck Tayou (Soles de Sonora)
