MASL TEAM OF THE WEEK – WEEK EIGHTEEN, ELLIS NAMED IN TEAM OF THE WEEK
Today, the MASL named it's team of the week for week eighteen. Ellis was one of the bright stars during last weeks match against the Ontario Fury. He had four assists and two blocks.
With one more week to play in the 2016-2017 regular season, these players are fighting to the very end. Congratulations to all the players on this week’s Team of the Week.
The MASL Team of the Week is selected using the Stars awarded at each game and by soliciting nominations from each team. Players nominated by teams were each awarded three points and stars were awarded 3 points (1st Star), 2 points (2nd star) and 1 Point (3rd star) respectively.
Goalkeeper:
Stephen Paterson (Kansas City Comets) – Kansas City’s goalkeeper had an .824 save percentage and allowed only 3 goals against the Rampage offense. To top that off, he scored his second goal of the season in the fourth quarter, becoming the first goalkeeper in history to score two goals with his feet and record a shutout in the same season.
Defender:
Cody Ellis (Dallas Sidekicks) – Ellis did everything he could to help his team’s efforts over the weekend. Against Ontario, Ellis had four assists and two blocks.
Midfielders:
Vahid Assadpour (Kansas City Comets) – Vahid Assadpour helped the Comets win their third straight regular season Central Division title with a commanding performance on Sunday. He scored our goals and added an assist as the Comets beat the Cedar Rapids Rampage
Kenardo Forbes (Syracuse Silver Knights) – Kenardo Forbes put on an impressive display against the Florida Tropics on Sunday. The veteran midfielder scored four goals and had two assists as the Silver Knights finished their season with a big win over their division rivals.
Forwards:
Leonardo de Oliveira (Ontario Fury) – The Ontario Fury had three road games over the weekend and needed to win each one to stay alive in the playoff hunt. Leonardo De Oliveira helped guide his team to wins in all three games, scoring nine goals and two assists.
Kraig Chiles (San Diego Sockers) – Kraig Chiles is getting in prime playoff shape. Over the weekend he scored seven goals and three assists in games against Atletico Baja and Soles de Sonora.
