Ontario Fast and Furious Over Dallas 10-8

Allen, Texas (Feb. 25, 2017) – The Dallas Sidekicks fall to 7-13 in Major Arena Soccer League play with a heartbreaking 8-10 loss Saturday night to the Ontario Fury.

The first half was a tale of two quarters. The first quarter was a stale mate as both teams struggled to find the back of the net. Joey Kapinos kept Dallas scoreless with 2 key saves in the quarter.

Ontario’s offense started to warm up in the second quarter with goals scored by Jinho Kim, Maicon De Abreu, Corey Maret. Leonardo De Oliveira. Dallas’ responded with goals by Nestor Hernandez, Clint Ritter and VcMor Eligwe but trailed by 1 goal at halftime. 

Ontario would extend their lead to 5-3 in the third quarter with a power play goal scored by Leonardo De Oliveira, his second goal of the game. TJ Nelson would cut into the lead at 4-5 but seconds later Jinho Kim would score his second goal of the evening to extend their lead 6-4. 

Things started to get chippy in the fourth quarter as both teams committed harsh tackles and earned multiple yellow cards. The Fury closed out the game strong scoring three goals in the quarter to kill any momentum Dallas had in the quarter. Ontario goals were scored by Maicon De Abreu, Leonardo De Oliveira, Leonardo De Oliveira.  Dallas offense got hot in the fourth quarter with Jamie Lovegrove scoring a hat trick in the quarter and Carlos Videla adding a goal of his own but Ontario’s offense was too much to handle.

For the second year in a row the Sidekicks miss the playoffs, the Sidekicks finished the season with a record of 7-13. The Sidekicks would like to thank their fans for the support over the season.

While there are a few positions left to fill in the postseason tournament, the MASL has announced dates and schedules for the Divisional Championships. The Southwest and Central Division Matchups are set while the Baltimore Blast and the San Diego Sockers await their opponents in the Eastern and Pacific Divisions.
