Sidekicks Announce The Re-Signing of Veteran Midfielder Gustavo Piedra

by Caitlin Reilly

Allen, TX (October 20, 2022)-  Veteran Midfielder, Gustavo Piedra, re-signed with the Dallas Sidekicks for the 2022-2023 season the club announced Thursday. This will mark Piedra’s eighth season with the Sidekicks and in the MASL.

Last season, Piedra played in 21 games and had eight assists and 4 goals. Piedra is a difference-maker on the field and he creates goal-scoring opportunities. His calm demeanor allows him and his teammates to remain calm during tough situations on the field.

“I’m very excited to re-sign Piedra to a contract extension for the next three years because he’s loyal to our team and is a well-rounded player. I plan to keep him with the Sidekicks and have his career end with us,” said General Manager Jessie Vilkofsky.

When asked about the impact of having Piedra on the team, Vilkofsky said, “He brings a lot of wealth of knowledge and experience being in the MASL for so long. I have a lot of expectations for him as a player to make a great impact for our team this season.”

Piedra is a local native to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. He grew up in Plano, Texas, and went to Plano East Senior High School. Since Piedra is local to the metroplex, he loves hanging out with his family and his family loves supporting him from the sidelines.
