St Charles, MO (December 31, 2021) – The Dallas Sidekicks (2-3) faced off in a rematch from Thursday night's game against St. Louis Ambush (2-4), where the Sidekicks surpassed the Ambush by a thrilling 8-3 score.

Both teams again were making efforts on goal. Still, the Sidekicks' consistency got them the match's opening goal via Gustavo Piedra after some fantastic footwork got his first goal of the season.

The second quarter was just as intense as the first one, but just as the quarter was reaching its end, a well-executed 2v1 by Luiz Morales and Jamie Lovegrove increased the Sidekicks lead. Lovegrove scored the second goal of the night for the Sidekicks on back-to-back matches. The Ambush managed to pull one goal back seconds before the end of the second quarter to make the game 2-1.

The third quarter was all in favor of the Sidekicks. After conceding an early goal, the Sidekicks stunned the Ambush with three consecutive goals after Kristian Quintana, Brenden Lee, and Sebastian Mendez saw their efforts end at the back of the net, scoring 5 2 at the end of the third.

The final quarter also saw a clear Sidekicks dominance as they scored three more goals as David Ortiz registered his first two goals of the season, and Luiz Morales scored his seventh. The Ambush scored a late goal but was not enough to catch up to the Sidekicks' extensive lead with less than three minutes left in the clock.

“We just found someone within our group that helped through our game,” said Lovegrove. “It wasn’t an 8-3 game.”

The Sidekicks were formidable against the Ambush as the North Texan side picked up their first win on the road since Sunday, February 24, 2019, ending the winless road drought.

“We just have to work on the fine details,” said Lovegrove. “We got a new coach–we’re working on good things. We got to have everyone working together, and hopefully, we get another performance against Milwaukee.”

The Sidekicks are now second in the Central Division behind the Kansas City Comets, who are unbeaten this season.

The next game is Sunday, January 2, 2022, at 1:05 PM CST against the Milwaukee Wave at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. The Sidekicks return to the Credit Union of Texas Event Center on Saturday, January 8, 2022, against the Kansas City Comets celebrating First Responders Night.
