Sidekicks Comeback Falls Short to St. Louis Ambush

St. Charles, MO (February 20, 2023)- The Dallas Sidekicks faced the St. Louis Ambush for an early Monday afternoon on President’s Day. This was the first meeting between the two clubs this season.


The Ambush opened the scoring sheet at the 2:46 minute mark with a goal by William Eskay. At the 10:50 minute mark, Sidekicks player, Rio Ramirez, scored his first goal of the season with an assist by Blas Pérez. At the end of the first quarter, the game was tied at 1.


Five minutes into the second quarter, Ambush player, Duduca Carvalho scored, and shortly after the Ambush scored another goal by Antonio Manfut. In the last minute of the second quarter, Sidekicks player, Renato Torquato scored at the 14:15 minute mark. 36 seconds later, the Ambush player, William Eskay added another one. Going into halftime, the score was 2-4.


There were 11 goals scored in total from both teams in the second half. Shortly after the start of the third quarter, the Ambush scored again with a goal by Brian Bement. Seven minutes later, Ambush added another goal with a goal by Pepe Junqueira. 22 seconds later, Renato Torquato scored another goal.


At the 11:02 minute mark of the third quarter, Sidekicks player, Cameron Brown scored a power-play goal. St. Louis had the last goal in the third quarter which was scored by William Eskay.


Going into the fourth quarter, the score was 4-7. Shortly into the fourth quarter, Sidekicks player, Trevor Norman scored his first professional indoor goal at the 1:15-minute mark. The Ambush then added three more goals to the scoring sheet with the goals by Dom Alvarado and two by Kevin Ellis.


At the 12:31 minute mark, Blas Pérez scored the next goal making the score 6-10. The last goal scored in the game was by newly signed Sidekicks player, Román Torres. Like Trevor Norman, this was also his first professional indoor goal. The Sidekicks comeback was not enough and the final score of the game 7-10.
