Sidekicks Late Comeback Falls Short

Mesquite, Texas (January 28, 2024)- The Dallas Sidekicks faced the Texas Outlaws for the fourth time this season and second matchup in Mesquite on Sunday afternoon. This is game four of their six-game series across the season.


The Outlaws quickly started the game with three goals in the first 5 minutes of the quarter. Outlaws goals were scored by Vini Dantas, Luiz Morales, and Cody Ellis. At the 7:54 mark, the Sidekicks finally ended the Outlaws score streak with a goal by Renato Torquato. The goal was assisted by Gustavo Piedra. Neither the Sidekicks nor the Outlaws scored in the remainder of the quarter.


Like the first quarter, the Outlaws started their hot scoring streak early with two goals in the first three minutes of the quarter with goals by Sebastian Mendez and Vini Dantas. At the 8:54 minute, Dantas scored his third of the game completing his hat trick. At halftime the score was 1-6.


The Outlaws scored in the first minute of the third quarter with a goal by Darren Mitchell. Sidekicks stopped the possibilities of an Outlaws score streak when Piedra scored at minute 3:13. A minute later, the Outlaws started the score streak with three unanswered goals which Darren Mitchell, Vini Dantas, and Sebastian Mendez scored. At 11:57, Sidekicks player, Jamie Lovegrove scored making the score 3-10.


Unlike the other quarters, the Sidekicks scored early with the sixth attacker and was scored by Lovegrove again at 1:18. Two minutes later, the Outlaws responded with a goal by Emmanuel Aguirre. A minute later, the Sidekicks scored by David Texeira and after that, they scored again with a goal by Colin O’Keefe. At 10:46, Dantas added his fifth goal of the game to the score sheet. A minute later, the Sidekicks scored again using the sixth attacker which was scored by Bradlee Baladez. The possibilities of a Sidekicks comeback were too late and the final score of the game was 7-12.


The Sidekicks are back at home next weekend as they take on the San Diego Sockers for the second time this season.
