Sidekicks Fall Short to Milwaukee Wave on St. Patrick’s Day
Allen, Texas (March 17, 2024) - The Dallas Sidekicks faced the Milwaukee Wave for the fourth and final time this season. The Sidekicks have lost the previous three matchups.
The first quarter started off strong for the Sidekicks with three back-to-back Sidekicks goals in the first 10 minutes. Yahir Romero scored 32 seconds into the quarter. At 7:30, the other Romero brother, Esai, scored and then two minutes later, Anthony Powell scored. Within the last three minutes, the Wave bounced back and responded with three goals to end the quarter tied at 3. Milwaukee goals were scored by Max Ferdinand, Andre Hayne, and Andrew Wiedabach.
Unlike the first quarter with six goals scored from both sides, there was only one Wave goal at 6:42. This goal was scored by Derek Huffman and gave the Wave their first lead in the game. At the end of the second quarter, the score was 3-4.
At 3:57 in the third quarter, Sidekicks midfielder, Colin O’Keefe scored tying up the game. Less than a minute later, the Wave responded with a goal by Max Ferdinand. At 8:50, Yahir Romero tied up the game again when he scored off the power play. Five minutes later, Sidekicks player, Bradlee Baladez scored giving the Sidekicks the lead. However, less than a minute later, the Wave responded tying up the game once again.
41 seconds into the fourth quarter, the Wave gained the lead when Salvador Nunez scored and less than a minute later, Nunez scored again. At 3:37, Sidekicks player Nestor Hernandez scored letting the Sidekicks only down by one goal. Two minutes later, the Wave added to their lead with a goal now by Troy Morrison. The Sidekicks then scored two back-to-back goals. The first goal was by Yahir Romero, completing his hat trick and the second goal was scored by Jamie Lovegrove. In the last minutes of the game, the Wave used their sixth attacker and scored. This goal was scored by Ricardo Carvalho. Then, the Sidekicks used their sixth attacker, Jamie Lovegrove. This player advantage was not in favor for the Sidekicks because Wave player, Andre Hayne, scored an empty net goal. The final score of the game was 9-11.
