Sidekicks PREPARE FOR 2020/21 SEASON

(ALLEN, TEXAS: October 15, 2020) As the Dallas Sidekicks begin to gear up for the 2020/21 season the team can look to a number of local sporting events to serve as benchmarks for attendance and new procedures to keep fans safe.

The Dallas Cowboys lead the NFL in attendance this year with 15 of the teams now reporting attendance figures. America’s Team has the highest total attendance, average attendance and capacity percentage for 2020 so far. For the home opener the Cowboys had 21,708 announced fans and increased that number to over 25K fans for their next games against the Browns and Giants.

FC Dallas had one of the first sporting events with fans in attendance when they played Nashville on August 12th with 2,912 fans in the stands. More recent games have had an attendance of over 3.5K fans.

The new Globe Life Park is being used for the National League Championship series between the Dodgers and the Braves. Over 10K fans have attended the first few games. Meanwhile the Red River Rivalry game between Texas and Oklahoma had 24K fans at the Cotton Bowl to witness a triple overtime thriller while SMU and TCU are hosting a similar percentage of fans at their home games.

“North Texas is leading the way in getting fans back at games during these unprecedented times,” said Paul Donaghy, Director of Sale and Marketing for the Dallas Sidekicks. “We are working closely with the City of Allen and the Allen Event Center to create a safe environment for Sidekicks fans who are eager to watch their team live in action again this season. The team is monitoring what the Cowboys, FC Dallas, SMU, TCU and other local sporting and non-sporting events are doing to come up with the latest best practices for players, staff and of course fans.”

Fans are the lifeblood of sports, especially here in sports crazed DFW. It has been so special to see fans celebrating again at local sporting events the past couple of months now and with the Dallas Sidekicks season kicking off in January and looking to do an exhibition game in mid-December indoor soccer fans will be able to join in the fun soon.
