Allen, Texas (February 6, 2021)– The Dallas Sidekicks won at home against the Tacoma Stars 5-4 in their fifth MASL game of the season in a thrilling overtime affair thanks in large part to a Felipe De Sousa hat trick that included the game winner. The Sidekicks' next game is Friday, February 12th, 2021 at 7:30PM CT against the Florida Tropics back at the Allen Event Center in our "We ♡ Allen Night" game.

The first quarter would see seven total shots on goal with Dallas holding the edge 4-3, however, it would be the Stars with the only score of the game as Evan McNeley would put the visitors up with with under four minutes to play. The home team, however, would strike back in the second quarter with two goals in a span of 22 seconds.  Felipe De Sousa would continue his fine goal scoring form with his fifth goal of the game at 6:17 of the second quarter doing all the work himself on an unassisted goal.  Moments later, the Sidekicks would take their first lead of the game as Dario Joya would connect with Anthony Powell who was tripped by the keeper in a one-versus-one situation but maintained his balance getting around the goalie and calmly slotting the ball into the middle of the net.  De Sousa would add his second of his game drilling the low left corner off a pass from Ricardinho at the 3:32 mark to increase the Sidekicks lead to 3-1 which is how the half would end. Dallas would get three goals on seven shots in the quarter holding Tacoma to just one shot.

After a fun half-time performance by "Dog Star Entertainment" whose famous dogs did crowd pleasing tricks and caught frisbees the two teams resumed play. The Sidekicks would dominate the third quarter holding the Stars without a shot and scoring the only goal of the quarter after Dario Joya would take a rebound off a shot from Julio Varela and beat Tacoma's goalie to increase their lead to three which is how the quarter would end.

The team from the west coast would come alive in the third quarter with three goals of their own to tie the game at 4-4. Douglas Lima, Michael Ramos and Phillip Lund would all score for the visitors and the game seemed destined for overtime. The extra ten minutes of sudden death would indeed be on tap for these two old and bitter rivals, who split two games last year with each team winning by a single goal, were not done playing yet. This game would have the same fate, the only thing in question was who would come out in top.  Felipe De Sousa knew and his hat trick, his second of the season, would send the Sidekicks fans home delirious this Saturday night and the Stars home devastated. The Brazilian made no mistake on his powerful shot from the left side of the goal picking up the game winner. It was a moment reminiscent of a famous Sidekick's Brazilian who must have felt a twinge of pride when De Sousa celebrated in "Tatu-style" by ripping off his jersey after sealing the victory.

Be sure to catch the Sidekicks next home game as they host the Florida Tropics for our "We ♡ Allen Night" on Friday, February  12th at 7:30pm.  Single game and season tickets for the 2020-2021 season are on sale now and can be purchased here.
