Independence, Missouri (February 21, 2021)– The Dallas Sidekicks lost a pair of games to Kansas City on a MASL double header weekend for both teams. Kansas City won the first game on Friday by a score of 10-6 and the second game 13-4 to run their winning streak to four games. Dallas next plays on March 12th in St. Louis as they face the Ambush on the road. The Sidekicks' next home game is Saturday, March 20th, 2021 at 7:00PM CT against the San Diego Sockers at the Allen Event Center.

GAME ONE

On Friday night the Sidekicks were able to get out of Dallas after a cold snap that made practicing impossible as the whole area was blanketed in snow and ice. The Sidekicks would be sporting their new white jerseys for the first time this season  and Oscar Romero must have liked them scoring the opening goal in less than a minute. He woud add another goal in the second quarter. His two goals would be matched by Felipe De Sousa who continues to be the team's most dangerous scoring threat this season. The Sidekicks other goal scorers would be Freddy Moojen and Julio Varela.

Rian Marques would pace the Comets with a hat-trick in the high scoring game in which the teams would put up a total of 71 shots with Kansas City holding a slight edge 37-34. The game would mark the first appearance of Sanaldo Carvalho in goal for Dallas and he had a very busy night making 18 saves in the process. His counterpart for the Comets, Nicolau Neto, wasn't far behind with 17 saves of his own.

GAME TWO

The Sidekicks would switch to their all-black uniforms for the second game which started much like the first with Dallas taking the early lead. This time is was Anthony Powell, taking a pass from Oscar Romero, and beating Lou Misner getting his first start of the season in goal for the Comets. Comets Player-Coach Leo Gibson would equalize in the final minute of the quarter. It would be the first of four-straight goals for Kansas City before the Sidekicks leading scorer, Felipe De Sousa, cut the lead in half. De Sousa would get his second later to again cut the lead in half, this time 6-3.

De Sousa would not be done as he would get his third hat-trick of the season early in the final quarter after the Sidekicks went with Ricardino as the sixth attacker early. The Comets would pile on more goals running up the final score. The physical game was closer than the score with the Comets holding a slight 26-24 edge in shots. De Sousa was the bright spot all weekend accounting for five goals in the two game series.

Be sure to catch the Sidekicks next home game as they host the San Diego Sockers on Saturday, March 20th at 7:00pm. For tickets call the Sidekicks at 469-393-0160.
