The Dallas Sidekicks know what it feels like to have a vehicle broken into and so when it happened to one of our long-time season ticket holders the team knew it had to act.

Back on February 19 the Sidekicks had traveled to Southern California to play against the Ontario Fury. While the team was eating their customary pre-game meal together the team bus was broken into. Uniforms, equipment, and personal belongings were stolen from the bus and the team had to borrow uniforms, shoes and other equipment to play later that evening.

Flash forward two months and the world is a very different place but the emotions of being “violated” are even more pronounced. So when Dallas Sidekicks Manager of Sales Scott Wegener saw on Facebook that a long time Sidekicks season ticket holders and super-fans Pat and Tommy Nichols posted that their van was broken into he immediately told the rest of the front office and coaching staff. As soon as the message reached head coach Simon Bozas, he immediately agreed to pay for the vandalization including the broken windows.

“Our Sidekicks season ticket holders are like family,” said Paul Donaghy, Director of Sales and Marketing for the Dallas Sidekicks. “When we heard one of our owns vehicle was broken into we truly felt the impact, especially since it had just happened to us just over a month before. I’m grateful to work for an organization that is so involved in the community and steps up in times like this. I really appreciate what our coach did to make this situation right.”

Sidekicks Director of Soccer Operations Jesse Llamas had a check cut yesterday and hand delivered the check while practicing social distancing. “It felt really good to brighten our fans day and show how much the Sidekicks care about our fans,” Llamas said after the deliver. “All of our fans are important to the organization and honestly our fans really helped our players out when we had our personal belongings stolen starting a go fund me campaign so to be part of a pay-it-back situation like this was very special."

Pat was delighted at the gesture writing “I want to thank you so very much for your generosity and kindness. I am so grateful and ever so thankful for such wonderful friends of a fabulous team. Tommy and I are so grate for the “Sidekicks” team, (and) staff. We are looking forward to another season getting together again.”
