(ALLEN, TEXAS: February 3, 2021) – The Dallas Sidekicks take on the Tacoma Stars in their fifth game of the season on Saturday, February 6th at 7:00pm at the Allen Event Center. It will be a "Superclásico" game as the Sidekicks face an all-time rival in the Stars.

The Sidekicks will be looking to pick up their first victory of the season while the Stars try to improve on their 1-1 start to the season. Tacoma lost a heart breaker 5-6 against Kansas City to open the season but rebounded with an impressive 5-3 win against St. Louis. This will be the teams third straight road game to open the season before heading to the RP Funding Center in Florida where they will be playing their February home games due to COVID-19 restrictions in the state of Washington.

Tacoma is lead by player/coach Nick Perera who also recently lead the West in the first ever MASL All-Star game. The big target forward has terrorized the league for years with his size and uncanny touch and passing ability for such a big man. Not surprisingly, he leads the club with five points through the first two games of the season. In 20 games last season, the Spanish born and Belgium raised number 10 had 22 goals to go along with 20 assists. The Stars also feature one of the best goalies in the indoor game in Danny Waltman who currently leads the league with a .793 save percentage.

There is a lot of history between the two teams, but perhaps no series stands out more than the 1986/87 championship in which the Dallas Sidekicks defeated the Tacoma Stars for their first title. Dallas won the series dramatically four games to three with the final game a 4-3 win in Tacoma as Mark Karpun scored in overtime for the Sidekicks, just as he had done in game six, to lead Dallas to their first of four championships. Sidekick's legend Tatu would lead the league in scoring in both the regular season with 73 goals and in the playoffs with another 22 in an MVP season.

The two teams last played on February 15, 2020 at the Allen Event Center with Tacoma pulling off a thrilling 5-4 road win after a fourth quarter rally saw the Sidekicks score two goals to cut the lead to just one. It was a revenge game for the Stars after the Sidekicks had beaten them the previous month 6-4 when Arthur Ivo finished off his hat trick with four seconds left to also ice the game for Dallas. These  games are just a couple in a lengthy list of memorable close battles between these long time foes.

Seating Capacity for indoor soccer games at the Allen Event Center is 6,200 with the state of Texas limiting capacity to 50% or 3,100. The Sidekicks took things a step further reducing seating capacity to just 1,741 available seats or approximately 28% of all total seats to ensure safe social distancing between fans so. be sure to get your tickets before they are gone. The Sidekicks, also with the City of Allen and Allen Event Center, have put many safety protocols in place this season to ensure the safety of both players and fans.

Single-game tickets are on sale now for all home games along with season tickets still available. Call the Sidekicks at 469-393-0160 for more information or visit the Sidekicks Ticket Page to select your seats.
