Sidekicks Host Tropics on We ♡ Allen Night

(ALLEN, TEXAS: February 9, 2021) – The Dallas Sidekicks take on the Florida Tropics in their sixth game of the season on Friday, February 12th at 7:30pm at the Allen Event Center. The Sidekicks will be thanking the community they play in during "We ♡ Allen Night".

The Sidekicks are coming off a thrilling and emotional overtime win Saturday over their historic rivals, the Tacoma Stars. The 5-4 win was capped off by Felipe De Sousa who stunned the visitors with a perfectly placed shot at the far post for the game winner, picking up a hat-trick in the process, his second of the season. Dallas was without its top two scorers from last season, Lipe and Freddy Moojen, so it was up to De Sousa to pick up the slack and the second-year player responded. With his fellow countrymen out, he scored a goal for each of them during regular time and save the overtime winner for himself.

Much like last season the Florida Tropics are dominating the MASL. They are 6-1 so far this season which includes a home win over the Sidekicks. This time, the team that leads the league in both goals (46) and goal differential (+18) comes to the Allen Event Center with the Sidekicks looking for revenge and to ride their momentum from the Tacoma game.

The rich got richer in Florida as the Tropics picked up Ian Bennett in the offseason and that move is paying huge dividends as he leads the team with ten goals to go along with his five assists. Last week the Tropics added former Sidekick VcMor Eligwe to make their attack even more potent. Victor Parreiras (13 points) and Ricardo Carvalho (9 points) returned this year to help make Florida the favorite to raise the Ron Newman Cup as champion of the MASL this year. Defender Drew Ruggles might be just the best defender in the league and he is averaging over a point a game this year to top things off.

Instead of Valentine's cards, the team will be giving out free Dallas Sidekicks posters at each exit after the game for fans.

Seating Capacity for indoor soccer games at the Allen Event Center is 6,200 with the state of Texas limiting capacity to 50% or 3,100. The Sidekicks took things a step further reducing seating capacity to just 1,741 available seats or approximately 28% of all total seats to ensure safe social distancing between fans so. be sure to get your tickets before they are gone. The Sidekicks, also with the City of Allen and Allen Event Center, have put many safety protocols in place this season to ensure the safety of both players and fans.
