Sidekicks Look to Comeback after Loss in First Game of Weekend Double Header

Allen, Texas (January 7, 2023)- On Saturday night, the Dallas Sidekicks took on the San Diego Sockers at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center for Retro Night.

The first quarter was dominated by the Sidekicks with the first goal scored by Oscar Romero and the assist by VcMor Eligwe three minutes into the game. Seven minutes later Bradlee Baladez scored with an assist by Gustavo Piedra. Jamie Lovegrove scored next with a power play goal. The score at the end of the first quarter was 3-0.

The Sockers then went on a scoring streak scoring seven unanswered goals in the second, third, and fourth quarters. Goals were scored by Tavoy Morgan, who had a hat trick during the game; Mitchell Cardenas, Brandon Escoto, Kraig Chiles, and Leonardo De Oliveira.

Sidekicks player, Albert Rodriguez scored the next goal in the fourth quarter at the 2-minute 46-second mark with an assist by Christian Vazquez. Later on, in the fourth quarter, Sockers players Felipe Gonzalez and Christian Gutierrez scored the final two goals of the game. The final score was 4-9.

Tonight’s Man of the Match is goalkeeper, Juan Gamboa, who made 14 saves throughout the game. The Sidekicks take on the San Diego Sockers again tomorrow night at San Diego. Watch the game on Twitch (twitch.tv/masl_soccer).
