Sidekicks Lose Another One at Home

Allen, Texas (February 23, 2020)– The Dallas Sidekicks lost at home against the San Diego Sockers 6-4. The Sidekicks next home game is on February 28th, 2020 at 7.35PM CT against the Mesquite Outlaws at the Allen Event Center in Allen, TX.

The Sockers broke out early and scored two goals, Kraig Chiles and Travis Pittman respectively, within the first two minutes and brought San Diego up 2-0 to start the quarter. Sidekicks goalkeeper made a clutch save to keep the score tied at the end of the quarter.

Within five minutes of the second quarter starting, Sidekicks forward Luiz Felipe made some space and scored to cut the Sockers lead by one to make the score 2-1 Sockers. The Sockers were called for contact above the shoulder and received a blue card which put the Sidekicks on the power play. The Sidekicks were then called for too many men on the field and were given a blue card which resulted in both sides having four men on the field. Goalkeeper Juan Gamboa made a crazy save after the Sockers hit a banger on a set piece. With less than a minute left in the quarter Sidekicks’ player Frederico Moojen put one into the net with an assist from Ricardinho to tie it up 2-2.

The Sockers came out swinging and Leonardo De Oliveira scored and brought the Sockers up 3-2. Both teams were assessed blue cards for contact above the shoulder which resulted in 4v4. Halfway through the quarter Luiz Felipe ties the game up with a gorgeous upper ninety goal to keep the Sidekicks in the game. JGamboa was called for a handball outside the box and Sockers player Kriag Chiles scored on the shootout and brought the Sockers up 4-3.

Possession was held evenly between both teams for the first few minutes of the quarter. Sidekicks Victor Almendariz caught Sockers’ goalkeeper Boris Pardo out of position and tapped one in to tie the game 4-4. The Sockers then got a set piece and Brian Farber took a header and put it into the net and brought San Diego back in the lead 5-4 halfway through the fourth quarter. With a little more than two minutes left in the game, the Sidekicks took a timeout and put in the sixth attacker. The Sockers’ Farber scored on the Sidekicks sixth attacker and increased their lead 6-4. The game ended and the Sockers walked away with a 6-4 win.
