Sidekicks Lose to the Flash

Allen, TX (February 10, 2020)– The Dallas Sidekicks lost against the Monterrey Flash 14-4. The Sidekicks’ next game will be at home against Utica City FC on February 14th, 2020 at 7:30PM CT in Allen, TX at the Allen Event Center.

The Sidekicks came out strong with Sidekicks midfielder Diego Burato taking a big shot and scoring the first goal of the game. Shortly after, Dallas’ Ricardinho Cavalcante fouled which gave Flash player Edgar González the chance to score and tie the game 1-1. Monterrey’s Hugo Puentes scored again and brought the score to 2-1. With three minutes left in the quarter, Dallas player Freddy Moojen was blue carded for contact above the elbow which resulted in a power play and Flash player Omar Santillán took advantage and brought Monterrey in the lead 3-1 to end the quarter.

The second quarter started with González scoring his second goal of the night and brought the Flash up 4-1. Less than a minute later, Flash midfielder Eduardo Garay scored and brought the score to 5-1. Immediately after, Flash’s Marco Antonio Tovar was blue carded for contact above the shoulder. Dallas’ Burato used the power play to score his second goal of the match and brought the score to 5-2. Dallas coach Jesse Llamas received a yellow card for bench misconduct and Monterrey’s Santillán and Garay were both able to score their second goals of the night within a minute of each other. This brought the score to 7-2. With less than three minutes left in the half, Sidekicks player Kleber Bismarck was blue carded for boarding but Monterrey was not able to score off the power play. The score going into half time remained 7-2.

The second half had a slow start for both teams. Halfway through the quarter, Monterrey’s Puentes scored his second goal of the game, which gave the Flash a six-point lead. In the last three minutes, Monterrey scored again, this time by Erick Rosas. With seven seconds left in the quarter, Flash player Jorge Rios scored and ended the quarter with a lead of 10-2 for the Flash.

To kick off the last quarter, Monterrey’s González scored his third goal of the night then Brian Kirvit scored, bringing the score to 12-2. After not being able to score since the second quarter, Sidekicks player Jonathan Segura put up a goal for the team. With two minutes left in the game, Flash’s Garay was able to score his third goal of the night. Shortly after, Dallas’ Moojen scored but the Flash’s Rios came back and scored one last goal for his team. The game ended with the Flash winning 14-4.
