Sidekicks Sign Estevan Vazquez

by Caitlin Reilly

The Dallas Sidekicks have announced the signing of goalkeeper Estevan Vazquez for the 2021-2022 season. This will be his first season with the Dallas Sidekicks and his second in the MASL, signing his first contract with Mesquite Outlaws in 2019.

He was born in Sacramento, California and moved to Texas when he was ten, where he played for many clubs including Solar and FC Dallas Academy. With his FC Dallas Development Academy team, he won the U-17/U-18 championship in 2012. When he was 17, he played professionally in Mexico.

Outside of the Sidekicks, Vazquez is a Coach for Villarreal North Texas, along with his two brothers, and enjoys hiking, traveling, and playing sports.

To prepare for the upcoming season, Vazquez has been working out and eating healthy. His personal goal this season is to be mentally and physically the best version of himself.

“I feel very excited and motivated to start this new chapter in my life with such a great franchise,” Vazquez said. “I think this season holds very good things for everyone.”

Head Coach Pablo first saw Vazquez play in 2019, during the US Men’s National Futsal ID Camp, and then again when he was called up for the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup. Vazquez made his national team futsal debut against Slovenia in February 2021.

When asked about Vazquez, Coach Pablo stated, “Estevan is very professional and talented and has potential to be one of the top goalkeepers in the league.”
