Sidekicks Sign Goalkeeper Gonzalo Santa Martinez for 2022-2023 Season

Allen, TX (January 3, 2023)- The Dallas Sidekicks have announced the signing of r goalkeeper, Gonzalo Santa Martinez. This will be Santa Martinez’s first season with the Sidekicks and his first in the MASL. Per team and league policies, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.  

 

Santa Martinez was born on June 25, 1993, and grew up in Yecla, Murcia, Spain. Santa Martinez went to high school in Spain at Universidad Laboral.  

 

Martinez then went on to play collegiate soccer at Laredo College in 2017 and was there for two seasons. In 2018, he earned Defensive Player of the Season and helped win a national championship at the NJCAA level.  

 

He then transferred to Wayland Baptist University in 2019. At Wayland Baptist, Santa Martinez complied a .833 save percentage and had three shutouts while in goal during the 2019 season. He also received academic All-SAC and was a two-time SAC Defensive Player of the Week.  

 

Outside of the Sidekicks, Santa Martinez works at Foro Sports Club in Dallas, Texas. In his free time, Santa Martinez likes to read and eat pasta.
