The Sidekicks are very happy to announce the first round of new player signings for the class of 2021. Please meet some of our newest members to the Sidekicks!

Jonathan Cisneros

Jonathan is starting his rookie season as a defender with the Dallas Sidekicks. He is from Dallas, Texas, and graduated from Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, Texas. In 2019, Cisneros played professionally for C.D. Leganes U23 team in Madrid, Spain, and in 2017, he played for Platense FC in Puerto Cortes, Honduras. Cisneros is excited to continue his professional career and start his indoor career with the Dallas Sidekicks.

Christian Vazquez

Christian Vazquez is a defender from Sacramento, California. He joins the Sidekicks with his brother and recently signed goalkeeper, Estevan Vazquez. Christian Vazquez has played for the FC Dallas Academy, Dallas Texans, and Hurst United. Outside of the Sidekicks, Vazquez is the Director of Operations and a coach for Villarreal North Texas. Since this is his first professional indoor season playing with the Sidekicks, Vazquez has been watching as much MASL film as possible to help him prepare.

Erik Macias

Erik Macias is a midfielder from Dallas, Texas who is excited about joining the Sidekicks for his first season. Macias played for Barcelona 97 and collegiately at UT Tyler. At UT Tyler, Macias scored three goals and had one assist. To prepare for the upcoming season, Macias has been working out and conditioning.

Axel Chakounte

Axel Chakounte, a Cameroonian forward who is starting his first season in the MASL. Chakounte has indoor soccer experience playing for the Houston Bolt, a semi-professional indoor team in the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL). With the Bolt, Chakounte scored 11 goals and 4 assists in 7 games. Chakounte is eager to start a new chapter in his life with the Dallas Sidekicks.

Sebastian Mendez 

Sebastian Mendez is a midfielder from Dallas, Texas who graduated from Adamson High School in Dallas. Before the Sidekicks, Mendez has played for Añoranzas FC and Sporting United. This will be his first season with the Sidekicks as well as the start of his professional career. To prepare for the season, Mendez has been running and playing soccer every day to improve his soccer skills. 

Nago Mbengue

Nago Mbengue is a midfielder from Senegal. He moved to the United States in 2005. Mbengue has played outdoor professional for USL teams Indy Eleven and the Dayton Dutch Lions as well as professional futsal for Indy Futsal. In addition to training with the team on a daily basis, he is also in a regimented strength and conditioning program to prepare for the 2021-22 season. Mbengue holds a degree in actuarial science from Purdue University.

Stephen Gonzales

Stephen Gonzales is a is a defender from Red Oak, Texas. Gonzales has been playing soccer his whole life and is familiar with the soccer scene here in Dallas. Growing up he played on the youth teams of Vaqueros, Dallas Kicks, and FC Dallas. After club, he went on the play in college at Grand Canyon University and is now ready to play for the Dallas Sidekicks. When asked what he’s done to prepare for the season, he said that he has been “hitting the gym and playing [soccer] everyday” so he can give his all for the Sidekicks. It means so much for him as he said that “[I]t feels great to play in [his] hometown”! Gonzales has big things ahead of him this season and will be an asset to the team.

Chase Coy

Chase Coy is a goalkeeper that the Dallas Sidekicks signed in the offseason. Chase Coy started his soccer career right here in Dallas playing for the club team Solar and playing for McKinney Boyd High School. During the preseason, Coy has prepared by “training everyday and meditating” to get his body and mind in top shape for the season. When asked what it means to sign with the Sidekicks, Coy stated that “[it] means everything and [he’s] happy to have all [of his] hard work paid off.” We are all glad to have you join us here Coy, and we know you'll do great things for the team!
