Sidekicks Try to Avoid Ambush in Second Home Game

(ALLEN, TEXAS: January 5, 2021) – The Dallas Sidekicks take on the St. Louis Ambush in their second game of the season on Saturday, January 9th at 7:00pm at the Allen Event Center. Don't miss out on all the fun action as both teams look for their first win of this young MASL season.

The Sidekicks are looking to bounce back from a tough 8-5 loss to the Kansas City Comets last week while the Ambush dropped two games in Florida against the Tropics by the scores of 4-1 and 7-5. It will be the second home game for Dallas (0-1) and the third straight road game for St. Louis (0-2) to start the season.

Dallas defeated St. Louis 5-3 back on December 20th at The Family Arena in their final match of the Central Cup. The Sidekicks finished second overall in the tournament with a 2-1 record while St. Louis finished last at 0-3. Lipe, Freddy Moojen, and Julio Varela each picked up a goal while Felipe De Sousa netted two goals when the teams faced off in the Central Cup. De Sousa matched that goal tally with a brace in the home opener before leaving the game with an injury early in the game.

TV Star Josh Freeman will get things started as the honorary First Kick. Josh moved to Dallas to work in the Gas Monkey Garage as featured on the Discovery show "Fast N' Loud".

The Sidekicks will be honoring the late Diego Maradona during this game which will be "Maradona Night" Presented by VR Trip.  The team will be wearing a specially designed jersey this night only which will pay tribute to one of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of football boots.  The diminutive Argentine legend was bigger than life on and off the field for his country and club teams such as Napoli, Barcelona, and Boca Juniors.  Maradona was one of the two joint winners of the FIFA Player of the 20th Century award along with Pelé.

Seating Capacity for indoor soccer games at the Allen Event Center is 6,200 with the state of Texas limiting capacity to 50% or 3,100. The Sidekicks took things a step further reducing seating capacity to just 1,741 available seats or approximately 28% of all total seats to ensure safe social distancing between fans. The Sidekicks also with the City of Allen and Allen Event Center have put many safety protocols in place this season to ensure the safety of both players and fans.
