Sidekicks Win at Home Against Old Rivals

Allen, TX (January 5, 2020)– The Dallas Sidekicks won at home against the Stars 6-4. The Sidekicks next game will be at home against the Monterrey Flash on January 9th, 2020 at 7.30 PM CT in Allen, TX at the Allen Event Center.

The Sidekicks came out strong against the Stars with Arthur Ivo scoring within two minutes to bring the Sidekicks up 1-0. Then at 3:09 the Sidekicks scored again when rookie Felipe De Sousa knocked one past Stars goalkeeper Danny Waltman and brought the Sidekicks up 2-0. Then the Sidekicks managed to get another past the Stars and Ivo racked up his second goal of the night and the Sidekicks sat at 3-0 when the quarter ended.

The Stars came out with strong man-to-man coverage and picked up the pace with their three-goal deficient. With five minutes left in the quarter, the Stars shots on goal paid off and Stars midfielder Micheal Ramos put one past Sidekicks goalkeeper Juan Gamboa and cut the Sidekicks lead 3-1. Then within seconds, the Stars put another one into the net, Ramos’ second, to bring the Stars within one of the Sidekicks lead of 3-2. The teams went to the locker room with the Sidekicks leading 3-2 at the half.

The Sidekicks and Stars switched off possession, with neither team being able to score until there was 5:46 left in quarter. Sidekicks defender Kristian Quintana, on a breakaway, knocked a gorgeous one into the upper ninety and increased the Sidekicks lead 4-2. The third quarter was chippy between both teams who played aggressively to make something happen for their respective club.

The fourth quarter proved to be lively for the Sidekicks when forward Frederico Moojen landed one into the net to bring the Sidekicks up 5-2 with 3:42 into the quarter. Moojen recently lost his father and dedicated the goal to him. The Sidekicks then went on the penalty kill after Sidekicks midfielder Raul De La Gala was called for a reckless tackle and given a blue card. The Stars used the man advantage and Alex Megson put one into the net to cut the Sidekicks lead to 5-3. The Stars decided to answer back and racked up another goal when Chase Hanson snuck one into the net to cut the Sidekicks lead 5-4 with around five minutes left in the game. With less than three minutes left in the game the Stars put in a sixth attacker to try to gain an advantage and bring the game into overtime. In the last four seconds Ivo gets a hattrick and brings the Sidekicks the win! The scored ended with the Sidekicks on top with a score of 6-4.
