SIDEKICKS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT GAME ON NACHO TYPICAL MONDAY

ALLEN, TX (February 21, 2022) – The Dallas Sidekicks (8-7) won comfortably 11-6 in a well-rounded team performance against St. Louis Ambush (5-9-2) Sunday afternoon.


In the first quarter, the Sidekicks went ahead on the score after a couple of attempts to get on the scoresheet via the powerplay after a fantastic goal scored by Gustavo Piedra. Scoring his 18th goal of the season, Luiz Morales saw his shot go to the back of the net to extend the North Texan's side.


Five minutes into the third quarter, Cameron Brown extended the Sidekicks' lead to score 3-0. Following Brown's goal, Jamie Lovegrove scored the fourth goal of the afternoon after Erik Macias' assist. With three minutes left in the second quarter, the Ambush scored their first of the afternoon via a penalty kick to make it 4-1.


The Ambushed quickly leveled the match, making it 4-4 after dangerous attacks that left the defense and Gamboa with no options to defend the goal. After a fantastic play down the side, Sebastian Mendez scored his first of the afternoon and fifth of the season. Bradlee Baladez quickly extended the North Texas lead scoring his seventh of the season with three minutes left in the quarter. Within a minute left, the Sidekicks scored via Mike Jones, who scored his second goal of the season, ending the third quarter 7-4 in favor of the Sidekicks.


After a six-goal quarter, Julio Valera scored his first of the afternoon and increased the Sidekicks' lead. After conceding an Ambush goal, Bradlee Baladez scored the Sidekicks' ninth goal of the game after coming off the bench. After a fantastic combination between the home side, Mike Jones scored his second of the afternoon, making it 10-5. Scoring his second goal of the game, Gustavo Piedra added the 11th goal of the afternoon for the Sidekicks. The Sidekicks conceded a late goal, making the score 11-6.


Mike Jones’ shared his thoughts after the fantastic win on Monday afternoon:


“We’ve been working hard this week and were able to pick up a huge result,” said Jones. “We’re going to play them next week like we’ve never played them. We got the playoffs soon, something we haven’t reached in a long time, and we’re working hard towards that goal.”


Gustavo Piedra also got his brace and shared his thoughts after the match:


“Feeling happy that we were able to get the win,” said Piedra. “We started strong, they came back, and Coach Ricardinho told us to step it up and we did. We’re going to train hard this week go at it and be able to get the win again.”


Ricardinho’s side will head on the road to face St. Louis at the Family Arena on Sunday, February 27, 2022.


The Sidekicks return to the Credit Union of Texas Event Center on Sunday, March 6, 2022, versus the Kansas City Comets (10-2-1) at 12:30 pm CST.
