CHIHUAHA, Mexico (March 11, 2022) – The Dallas Sidekicks (9-9-1) fell 8-2 in their first scheduled doubleheader against the Chihuahua Savage (9-6-2) at the Corner Sport Arena Friday night.

Both teams were producing various efforts to score in the first quarter. The North Texas side conceded a late goal in the first quarter after a great effort from the home side to score first. The Sidekicks were able to produce various shots of their own but could not create further damage in their efforts for an equalizer.

In the opening minutes of the second quarter, the home side scored back-to-back goals to increase their lead 3-0. After a fantastic strike by Cody Ellis, the Sidekicks scored their first goal of the night and shortened the Savage’s lead. With a few minutes left into the second quarter, the home side extended their lead to make it 4-1. Just seconds before the end of the second quarter, the home side scored their fifth goal of the night, leading 5-1 at the half.

Halfway through the third quarter, the home side again saw their efforts rewarded as they managed to score two goals past Juan Gamboa. Despite some efforts by the North Texas side, they were not enough to overcome the composed Savage defense and trailed 7-1 going into the final quarter of the match.

The final quarter saw the Dallas Sidekicks push their efforts to score and were successful when Bradlee Baladez scored the Texan’s second goal of the night. Baladez scored his 13th goal of the season. The Savage managed to put a final goal past Gamboa for the Sidekicks to lose 8-2.

After the match, Bradlee Baladez shared his comments on Friday night’s performance:

“First, I would like to give credit to Chihuahua,” said Baladez. “Chihuahua is a good team, and we must put this game behind us and get a better turnaround tomorrow. We must come out ready to play, be ready at the end of the day. Yes, we were missing a few players, but we must give credit to the guys who stepped up tonight, like Christian Vazquez, who made his MASL debut tonight.”

The Sidekicks play their second and final game in Mexico versus Chihuahua Savage on Saturday, March 12th. The Sidekicks return to the Credit Union of Texas Event Center on Thursday, March 24th, 2022, to face Milwaukee Wave.
